Can you say.......What the Heck!

My every lovely and exciting sister-in-law.....Bev, invited Boyd and I to a leisurely weekend......Memorial Day......in Eastern Utah. She had a river trip planned and some sight seeing. We quickly agreed to go and packed according to her specifications.......easy float down the river.
Eastern Utah is a "mecca" for archeologists.....so many petroglyphs and pictographs and dinosaur bones.  We hiked to McConkie Ranch to look at these beauties......it was amazing.
While we were there, there was a group with an archeologist and they were learning about this ancient rock art.  It was so facinating.

We also went to the Museum.  They have built the museum around a large 3 story rock wall that has onver 300 different species of animals and dinosaurs in it.  It was amazing. I know I've probably said amazing too many times.....but if the event fits............

Whe we went to learn about the mellow  river trip, they informed us that this was "high water" weekend.  We would definately get wet, and that our cotton jackets and flip flops would not work.  We headed to K-matr to purchase the appropriate foot-wear.  When we arrived and we saw that we would be wearing helmets......we started to panic.  When our guide Tony strapped our life preservers so tight with the addage:  "If you can't breathe, you can't drown...." For those un-initated, white water river rapids are catogorized 1-6......no body runs a 6....that kills.   Our trip had class 3......we were wide-eyed with fear and amazement.   It was so much fun.  I will be doing that again.  We all loved it, Bev was very appologetic about it, but we told her she was the Bomb-Diggity for setting it up.

Keauhau Beach Resort

This resort was probably built in the 1980's.  It was awesome.  It was right on the beach with some tide pools where the snorkeling was some of the best on the island.  The Lanai had lots of seating that you could go out in the evenings and listen to the music at the lounge, eat at the restaurant or bar and enjoy the ocean breeze.  There's a reason it's called paradise.

Why do vacations go by so fast.  There was these hammocks, that begged to be occupied, it was heavenly.
View from the hammock

Boyd and I had a massage outdoors.
The spa set up the tables uner the trees and we
were out listening to the birds and its was one of the
best things I've ever done......
