Thanksgiving 2013.......miscellaneous

Sadly, the blooms from my Christmas Cactus are fallen before Thanksgiving. Last year my Christmas Cactus bloomed before Halloween, so we are making progress.....she is getting the memo about where we are on the calendar...hahaha

Pie, pie, pie, pie and a gallete.................

Mr. Isaac determined to run his first 5K, The Turkey Trot that Cottonwood Heights sponsors.   Grumps and I made a poster and headed over to the finish line so we could cheer him on. He crossed the line with a big old grin..........he said "I got a cramp part way thru, I think I didn't drink enough water!"

This little gal should be hired out on Thanksgiving

to be a prep-chef....

she was amazing and so helpful.

This is the big guy out lowering the turkey into the hot oil.

The smell is yummy............grease and turkey.

Yummy....my tummy is growling. This is alot of work to heat up 5 gallons of oil and fry a turkey breast. It takes hours for the oil to cool, so the clean-up isn't complete until the next day. We look at each other every Friday after the big day and say "how much longer can we do this?"

Sweet Disaster............

We have plans for this little corner of our bedroom.

We have plans for 1/2 of a closet in the hallway.

Mr. Mr. was demo-ing today.................be still my heart

Can it be.........will he get it done?

I will be gone for (3) weeks in January,

I'm hoping he surprises me while I'm away

like he did in the Spring !!

Let the Games Begin

I dug out the bulbs from under the cubby,

where they have been "resting" since last year. 

I have high hopes for these babies.

I sent one of these to Travis, Aimee, Megan and Harmony. 

They are to plant them the day after Thanksgiving and we should have blooms by Christmas. 

Nothing says Holiday like a big ole' amaryllis.......

Sweets for the Sweet

I had the Lloyd kiddos over last night for a sweet roll...... I started the dough and when they arrived they helped roll, cut, bake and frost. I cheated in the proofing of the rolls,

so from start to eat was 2 hours!!

1st snow of the season magical.....

This was early in the  season.

It was such a l-o-n-g  H-O-T summer

that I welcomed the change in

weather.

I understand that everyone doesn't share my feeling.

I watched Sophie while Mandi and Travis were at the hospital with Mr. Mr. who was getting his tonsils removed. She was scratching her butt, and when I took this picture, what you cannot see is the "stink eye" she gave me.

and headed for the school.

My beautiful gardenia......it's blooms are

breath-taking.....

They make my entire kitchen smell delightful.

This is a batch of pumpkin chocolate chip muffins

They are one of the best things of fall.

Boyd and I attended our 2nd "Swine Soiree"

This is an annual event that our neighbors have.

We have been luck enough to attend.

The food is amazing.

The attendees are ............varied.

We love it.

I hope we never fall from favor

and are always invited.

Keepin' it real.....

I look at blogs and I come away feeling discouraged.   Where do people get the time, the money and the ideas to do what they?  Worry not dear reader (that would be you Mom) there will be no feelings of discouragement here.  I'm keeping it real.  I'm lounging in a recliner and looking out the window at a beautiful fall day.  The lawn people came and sucked up leaves in the grass bag...woo-hoo......so much less raking later.  I just made a batch of pumpkin chocolate chip muffins. ..I ate two...with butter. ..they were delish.  We have a party later today/tonight.."The Swine Soiree"  we were invited last year..it was fun.  Just a huge pig roast...I will get me some pig-love tonight.  Stay tuned for the full wrap up of the party.
