Poor guy
This guy was doing the
light fandango on a ladder
and took a spill.
This actually happened (3) days ago.
He's been moaning and groaning and
I couldn't take it any longer.
We made the ever-fun trip to the ER.
No broken bones, no ruptured anything,
lots of bruising....what a relief.
And, we were in and out of the ER
in a record-breaking 2 hours.

Faux Fire
I hosted book club this month....I do it yearly, and it seems to come up quickly. I decided rather than a real fire and all the smoke and soot and mess, these candles would give the "illusion" of fire...........woo-hoo...........it actually was warm after 3 hours of burning....a real fire doesn't even kick out much heat. Oh, i want a gas log, but until that happens.....this is my alternative.

Winters Must Be Cold........
One of my favorite movies is "An Affair to Remember" there is a line that Deborah Kerr says to Cary Grant at a poignant part of the film:
"Winters must be cold for those who have no warm memories." It became a funny little tag line for me and my sister as we would visit each other.
What started it was, one year Peggi and her beautiful children were pulling out of my driveway on their long trip back to Yuma, Az. I was sobbing, Peggi had large tears rolling down her cheeks. We knew it would be months before we would see each other again. It was sad. Cousins gone, no more laughing and playing an staying up late and talking and talking and talking. Out popped Beau's little head, and in a goofy little voice with an English accent: "Winters must be cold for those who have no warm memories" we started laughing and that was what we thought of as we parted. Beau had made us laugh
at what started out as a moment that
was sad and weepy.

This place is one of my warm memories.
This little cabin had beds to lay heads.
Harmony took two of her friends down for
a trip and laid their heads on the beds on the cabin.
They loved it.
This is the end of a chapter.
The chapter of a book nobody wants to put down.
The chapter that makes you cry when you remember.
The Chapter you want to re-read to make sure
you have all the information you need, to
store that warm memory, and pull
it out when you're feeling cold and sad.
it out when you're feeling cold and sad.
We spent Saturday going through warm memories in the
form of items that made up my Grandmothers life.
As I walked the property I marveled at
As I walked the property I marveled at
what my Grandmother had accomplished.
The hours she must have spent in the hills looking for rocks.
Dragging said rocks home and using them for patios,
fish ponds (above), fireplaces, jewelry and
some really quirky coffee tables......
Paisley shaped coffee tables.
I sort of wish I had one.
This once darling house had a ugly exterior.
My Mom restored it to it's quaint beauty.
It was a welcome sight as we would pull
into the yard after a long drive.
I don't remember the fish pond,
but I'm told is was something to behold.
My Grandma Bushar's home, the home that Mom purchased.
Once Grandma passed away, she made it a great place
to make warm memories for me, my sister, my
brothers, my children and my nieces and nephews and
my grandchildren...etc. etc.
I think this is the Crab apple tree.........................
that shades a rock pile....
not just any pile,
a pile with multiple rocks that
my Grandma could tell you where
she picked them up at.
This pile had severalwashing machine tubs
and joyous Hollyhocks that brighted
up the space.

Now someone else will start a new chapter,
hopefully with their own warm memories in the making.
For me and my peeps, we will talk fondly of
Enterprise, Grandma Bushar, my Mom
and the winters of our minds that are
filled with the warmth of these memories.

36 and 6.....
These (2) handsome boys share a birthday.
I cannot belive that I have a 36 year old child.
For the past few years, his birthday has been more
painful than my own.
I walked into my Boot Camp class this morning
and said. "My son is 36 years old today" and they
asked: "How old are you?" I replied.....old enough
to have a 36 year old child!!
In the words of Bob Paxman..."Enough said."
