Bakery Black-sand Beach
For Boyd's birthday, Travis called and purchased a gift certificate for some goodies
at this bakery.  They have wonderful masalada's (doughnut--) We love
all things fried......but especially dough!!  Covered with frosting
and filled with custard..................................
Boyd nearly passed out with joy!
You can't really tell but the blub up front had a mango frosting that was
out of this world............I want to experiment with some
frosting to see if it can be duplicated........yummmmmmm
About 10 miles from the Bakery is the Black Sand beach......it was so cool.

The sea turtles wander on the beach to sun themselves.
They were awesome.

Yet more vacation pics.....sorry

I was in love with the Stop signs in Waimea.....it's a cowboy town.
We went to the summit of Muana Kea on our anniversary....May 5th.
It just happened to be the night of the Super Moon.
The round buildings are observatories from other
countries.  Muana Kea is the best place on earth to view the stars.
This is the moon coming up.....in the shadow of Muana Kea.....sooo cool.
Those are the clouds, we are way above them--awesome.
This volcano is 13,797' above sea level.  It was 33 degrees by the time
the sun went down........hence peeps in coats!
 The sun was setting......amazing view.
 going..................
 going................

gone.

I'm restored.......
This is the wonderful Mr. Boyd toting our beach things......to the beach.  A big pink bag does not make him feel less manly,   This picture is perfect, like the sky, the water, the person in it.  I can recall the breeze just looking at this.

This sand was white and fine and incredibly lovely.  I sat and watched the people, I listened to the waves, I smelled the sea air......I felt myself relaxing, I was not thinking of a life I lived in a far away city, or the chaos that sometimes creeps unwanted into that life.   I was being restored to a more perfect being.  A being who was thankful for the chance to go on a vacation with a man I've loved for 30+ years.  I was being transformed to someone who was at peace with herself and what she has become.  I was happy to just sit and breathe and hum.............

I tried to use my big long monkey arm to take a picture of My hunka-hunka-burnin' love and me!
I Kept trying......

Let's try with my other arm.....and a different angle.
OH.MY.HECK....How hard can it be!
Well, I gave up and went back to
humming and enjoying the day and
loving that moment in time.  It was such a
perfect day .....even without a perfect picture of us!!

More
This non-descript metal building houses a terrific bakery.  We say a little sign on the side of'
the road on our way from Kona to Hilo.  We were heading to Akaka Falls so we pulled in
and purchased some yummies..........they were........yummy.

This is what we encountered on our walk to the Falls, green and lush and gorgeous

This is the Falls.
Amazing.
gorgeous

This is the jeep we rented.  These 4-door babies are much less "jumpy" than the old CJ5's that Boyd used to own.  I think I could own one of these bad-boys.
I took this picture of Boyd and "John from New Jersey"  he came to the island and found a way to stay.  He sells fresh fruit.......bananas, coconuts, papaya, cane-juice drinks (we had one that was cane juice, lime juice and fresh ginger........so so so de-lish - he whipped it up in that white motor-home thingy there.  I'm sure there were about 487 food-handling laws that were broken in the process....but we never got sick, we just pretended it was created in a spic -n-span clean kitchen with a food processer that is routinely scrubbed and put thru a dish-washer (?) He was handsome, with a really beautiful smile.....to bad he had not rubbed up against a stick of deodorant in about 5 years!!! Such a nice boy, such a smelly guy, such a great array of fresh fruit and - ummmmmmm that drink was too too yummy!!
This is Boyd's Carne Asada Tacos at Lucy's Taquria- yummmmmmmm
This is my smothered burrito, very tasty......pork.....tender......spicy......de-lish!!!
Whoever Lucy is, she's got a wonderful menu!!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY......LADY!
Mom "The Terminator"
Me and Mom......I think she's shocked at something I said (?)

Same picture twice.........The Terminator demands it!!
A baby asked God, "They tell me you are sending me to earth tomorrow, but how am I going to live there being so small and helpless?"
"Your angel will be waiting for you and will take care of you."
The child further inquired, "But tell me, here in heaven I don't have to do anything but sing and smile to be happy."
God said, "Your angel will sing for you and will also smile for you. And you will feel your angel's love and be very happy."
Again the child asked, "And how am I going to be able to understand when people talk to me if I don't know the language?"
God said, "Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweet words you will ever hear, and with much patience and care, your angel will teach you how to speak."
"And what am I going to do when I want to talk to you?"
God said, "Your angel will place your hands together and will teach you how to pray."
"Who will protect me?"
God said, "Your angel will defend you even if it means risking it's life."
"But I will always be sad because I will not see you anymore."
God said, "Your angel will always talk to you about Me and will teach you the way to come back to Me, even though I will always be next to you."
At that moment there was much peace in Heaven, but voices from Earth could be heard and the child hurriedly asked, "God, if I am to leave now, please tell me my angel's name."
"You will simply call her, 'Mom.'"

I am lucky enough to have an Angel for a Mom.  Each year I realize how remarkable she is.  You really never outgrow the need for a Mom.  She is a phone call away, and when needed she hops in her car and makes the 300 mile trip to be here.  I have 4 brothers and 1 sister and we all feel the same about her..........she's the best!
I love you Mom.
