Halloweenie
The Lloyd Brothers were Vampires for Halloween....
Here's Mr. Mr. Twisted Sister
(that's what I like to call him)
I have bags under my eyes that look like this
on most days!!! No makeup required.
Sit Isaac has some big new front teeth to go along with his costume.
I threw this picture in................This is my Christmas Cactus
in bloom before Halloween.................
The good thing is that it will probably bloom again
in February or March.
The Soph-a-loaf was a witch.
Big Hat to go with a big smile.
I think she's giving me the "stink-eye"

My Street..................
My Month............

It Was One of Those Fine October Days
It was one of those fine October days
free from summer’s heat and haze
but not yet gripped by autumn chill.

It was one of those fine October days
when the sky’s so clear
you can see the moon
through the atmosphere
at midday.

It was one of those fine October days
when the trees sport yellow and red
instead of everyday summer green.

It was one of those fine October days
when one draws a deep breath
and is grateful
to be resident on Earth.
by Richard Greene

This was my view as I drove south on Raintree......
I am so grateful for the beautiful little corner of the world I live in.
.
October is my favorite month..........I think.

The Swine Soiree
You look at this picture and think......what is that?
That is a temporary BBQ Pit.
In the backyard of the Green's Home in Woods Cross.
This is Dan Green.  Owner of said home in Woods Cross.
"The Pork Master"
He and his friend have perfected the art of roasting a whole pig.
They have a party called "The Swine Soiree".
(I'm sure Dan didn't come up with that name, he didn't seem to be the type. )
We arrived at the Soiree at about 5:15 in the afternoon.  They were just checking to pig
to see if the internal temperature was where it needed to be for consumption.
You Can't have party with a large number of people and not cook the pig properly.
That would not be pork-tastic.
This is Dan's friend....can't remember his name....not sure I was ever really introduced.
He had a thermometer and was inserting it in the pig........................5 degrees shy
of the magic number of 160 degrees..........back under the foil and tarps....for a bit longer.
The smell was awesome.  Boyd and I had a late breakfast and no lunch,
I was saving myself for some pig.....you know me and pig love.
My stomach was growling with anticipation.
This porker weighed 110 pounds when they picked him up in Tooele on Thursday.
They injected him with flavorings and had a rub on him.
He went into the pit at 2:30 in the morning.
Look at that face..........................
These guys have done this over a dozen times.
They were like..........pig-pros.
This guy was the most beautiful shade of roasted pig skin.
There were (4) chickens in there too....for peeps who didn't want
to consume pork.......why oh why would you not?
This is them cutting it up.
There is a lot of fat on a pig.
The meat was incredibly delicious,
but...............you had to cut/scrape away
lots and lots of pig fat.
It was a great party.
I hope I get an invite next year.

A GREAT PIG PARTY

Bring it on...................
This was a welcome sight for me.

It was a long hot summer...........
(a great movie with the most handsome Paul Newman)
But it went on and on and on......
a bit too hot, no cooling down,
this last summer...... not the Paul Newman film.
This was a welcome sight too.
I love nothing more than
to come home from a grueling day at work
and see a package on the front door step.
It makes me a bit giddy.
The anticipation.....will it be what I want?
Will I keep it or will I send it back?
Will it look like it did on-line?
Will I need to get another one?

Oh, please, please, please, be what I need.
Bulbs.............yeah..............
I ordered them from
Eden Brothers.
Some bulbs to force....

I love having something in bloom....
Always....something in bloom.
It is almost a necessity.
It cheers my soul.
It make me happy.
It soothes me.

I will have some paper whites
(10 bulbs)
And (3) large,
well, (2) large and (1) JUMBO
Amaryllis......to go along with
the ones I've been keeping in
the dark, in the cubby.
I'm hoping I will have a so many beautiful
Amaryllis' this year that I won't
be able to stand it.
I will post......
(by the way my Christmas Cactus is soexcited, it can't wait for Christmas, it's in bloom now.
I'll post a picture tomorrow.)

My pedicure is getting worse by the day.
I have an appointment for a facial and a pedicure
at my favorite Salon....
The Shiradhara Day Spa.
Hang on little piggies.....your day of beauty is near.
(I tried to paint them at work.....never a good idea
Tuesday can not get here soon enough.
Some restaurants only need one word names.
The Cinegrill is one of them.
This was our Friday Night spot this week.
This is my partially eaten hot Italian sausage sandwich
and spaghetti.
Part of a salad.................................it has capers.....
it never disappoints.

Random....thoughts......stuff...beware....
This is very boring
When I was visiting Megan in OKC, we were discussing the
need for the perfect shade of red lipstick,
we talked of the courage it takes to....
boldly swipe your lips and wear it with confidence.  But first, it needs to be the
blue shade of red NOT the orange-y shade of red.
(or the orange-y shade they seem to turn after they've been on my lips for 20 minutes)
But if you have a firm and beautiful left breast like this....
who cares if
you are wearing a most provocative shade of red.....
only your breast will be noticed.
We were in Sephora discussing and trying
on the samples that looked right,
we were told that perhaps we would need
to use a primer to achieve the
shade that stays true......

This is the current state of my pedicure..................
pitiful, embarrassing,
so in need of some TLC.
Moving on....................I'm sort of trying to grow out
my hair............it's hard to grow out
and it feels a little bit  hopeless...........
and longer hair makes me feel like I look old.
This is the back......(taking a picture with my arm
lifted above my head......sad)
But see how long it's getting,
I can almost pull it up in a pony tail by
itself......
I'm thinking that if I get it that
long, I will only pull it into a
pony tail....and look lazy, because
let's face it....a pony tail tells the world that
you didn't have time to do anything with
your hair, and it says that maybe you're just
a wee bit ......lazy (?)
This is the side view....once again I'm taking the
picture with My left arm stretched to the side.
Here's the other side......taken with right arm stretched...............
I'm really like this hairstyle............it also helps that she's
GORGEOUS......is it the hair or the face?
And let's not forget those beautiful eyes.
*sigh*
Here's another style........
(She reminds me of my niece London....sort of)
I'm diggin' this style too....
I guess I'm still lovin' "The Rachael" but what's not to love about
this cut.......it's sort of timeless.....or am I just
old and can't get out or a rut?
I know, I know, this is not long hair.....it's actually short
hair, but I am really a short hair kind of gal,
It's easier to feel "groomed" with short hair.
This is NOT good hair.  In fact it's kind
of ugly hair.....But she's so beautiful
she can make blah hair Great!!!
I might have a bit of a crush on her.
On to more random-ness.  This is a great Book.
Megan turned me on to it.
It has lots of recipes, they are easy to prepare
and leave in your fridge.
When you come home you can take the 5 minutes to prep a loaf,
let it rise, and bake.  It is just too too divine for words. The feeling
you get when your home fills with the smell of fresh baked bread
cannot be beat.  I was lucky growing up with
a Mom who was an amazing cook and a better baker.
Her bread is awesome, and I came home
many many days from school to loaves of
fresh homemade bread sitting on the cutting board
waiting for me to slice of the heel and butter
it.  Ummmmmmm
But I digress................

back to my loaf.
This is my loaf as it is ready to go into the oven.
It's a rustic loaf, baked on a brick.  The oven is heated
to 450 degrees and left heating up 30-40 minutes so the
stone/brick is screaming hot.  You also have a
roasting pan in the bottom rack that is hot hot hot.
As you put the loaf in the oven you pour a cup
of hot water into the roasting pan.
A tremendous amount of steam fills the oven
you close the door and let it bake.  The
steam makes for the hard crusty crust.
It is amazing.
This is my loaf as it emerged from the
oven in all it's crusty glory.
Ready to make my simple meal of
pasta - extra luscious.
This is the loaf from the book...........I think mine
looks just as scrumptious.......don't you?
Lastly.........it's cold outside.....what to do with
my flamingos that are cruising around
in the back yard.  I left them out in the
snow last winter, and they didn't seem any
worse for the wear...
Maybe they can stay out this winter too.

That pretty much sums up my weekend,
lips,toes, hair,bread, flamingos
a great combination in my book :)

p.s. we had biscuits and gravy for our Sunday
after church supper.  They were FANTASTIC.

Now, I'm laying on my bed trying to
psych myself out to start another week
at work.  On November 3rd, I will
have 36 years of service.  That's a lot
of Sunday night psyching ones self
out for work.  I ask myself:
"Self, how many more years will
you be doing this?" and that little sad
nasty part of my brain tells me:
10 more years Patti,
10 more Years.

double *sigh*

Time
This doesn't match a favorite quote
from Michael Landon:
"Whatever you want to do, do it now.
There are only so many tomorrows."

I'm having a real problem
with time management.  I only do what
I want to do.....not necessarily what
I should do.

What to do, to make sure I have
balance with what I want
and what I should do.

A Pork-tastic time
Saturday Boyd asked me where I wanted to go to lunch.
I said I was feeling some "pig love" coming on.
So we went to Famous Daves.
Nothing says pig love like an upside down garbage can lid
full of ribs, brisket, slaw and beans.
It was a rib-a-licous lunch.
This is just picture of the breeze
blowing in the open bedroom window.
I love sleeping with the windows open this
time of year.  It was 62 degrees in the
room this morning.......snuggle a little deeper---ahhhh
Since the hot tub is up and running, I was out
there a few nights ago and it felt a little dark.
I usually string Christmas lights along the deck
railing the weekend after Thanksgiving.  Thank
goodness Target had their Christmas Lights out
I purchased 10 strands and hung them this
weekend.  Happy. Happy. Joy. Joy.
