Let them stay little

Saturday we celebrated Alex's
2nd birthday.
Where does the time go?
It reminds me of a song
by Lonestar - Let them be little
here's the chorus, it
makes me tear up every time
I hear it.
Check Spelling
"So let them be little 'cause they're only that way for a while
Give them hope, give them praise, give them love every day
Let them cry, let them giggle, let them sleep in the middle
Oh just let them be little.
"

OK, so now I'm all old
and sad and I'm getting
melancholy and pathetic!
Somebody take me out and
shoot me!!

no work. . . . . .altered

I didn't go to work today.
I got up washed, brushed, dressed,
ate a bowl of frosted flakes.
Felt crummy- and got back in bed.

When I did get up I decided to
make a batch of my mom's
30-day bran muffins.

For all you peeps that I've
given this recipe to over the
years, I modified it to make
it more "healthy" and I
can't tell the difference
{maybe a tad less sweet (?)}

What I changed was:
1 C of butter (1/2 C. of veg. oil 1/2 C. applesauce)
5 C flour (4 C. of white 1 C. of whole wheat)
2 C sugar (1-1/2 C sugar)

So, 25% less sugar, 50% less fat and more whole
grain and no difference in taste!!! "Yipee Zipee"

Sorry if you read this hoping
for some great tid-bits
of my usual wisdom (hahahaha)
but I was so excited
that my muffins will
be better for me
(and you if you try it)
I just wanted to share.
ok.
I'm
done.
Goodbye.
have a
great week.
BTW
it's Spring
yeah!!

Change. . . . . .

Never say "change" to a 50+ year old woman,
it can mean many
things,
facial hair being one
of them.

But wait, I digress. . . . . . . . . . . .

This was Boyd on Sunday morning after it snowed all day on Saturday.

********************************

When I pulled into the garage on
Tuesday afternoon

(after driving home with my windows

down and breathing in lots of sunshine-filled fresh air)
I heard a small squeek!
More like a "whisper" really.
This "whisper" said,
in a most bold way:

"Hey, LADY!!
I could use a break here!"
Lo, and behold it was my lovely "Benny"
She was gasping for fresh
air.
She's been, dare I say "banished"

to the rear
of the garage, next
to Boyd's tools, a ladder ,
some
windshield wiper fluid,
and a bag of snow and ice melt.

I pulled her dusty
little body out of the garage,
I turned the key (oh joy!)
I revved the throttle . . . . gently,
and I putted away. Up the
street, I steered my little beauty.
With the delicious spring-like

air against my face,
I breathed
deep, and smiled.

aaahhhhhhhhh

Time for change

It's time for this bad-boy
to get over his
"front row seat"
in the garage
and let Benny take her
rightful
place "up front and center"

See ya next year. . . . .pal!

Sunshine and my Seester

My beautiful sister and Beau drove
up to visit London,
Craig and her grand kid-lets.
I played hooky from work for
the afternoon and met them
for lunch at the Gateway.
It was Fabulous. The sun was
shining and I found a great
parking spot on the street
(yipee zipee)

Here are Beau, London Peggi
Adam, Afton and Rachel.
How darling are those little munchkins?
Thanks guys for
a great break in the
mundane-ness of Thursday.

TREES

by: Joyce Kilmer (1886-1918)

I THINK that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.

A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the earth's sweet flowing breast;

A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;

A tree that may in Summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;

Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.

Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.

I love twitter.
Not the electronic kind.

I have a beautiful Blue Spruce in my backyard.
My dad (gardener extraordinaire)
comments on it's beauty
each time he visits and steps onto my deck.

I sleep with a sound machine.
I usually listen to waves lapping on the shore,
OR
thunder.

I sleep with this machine
to drown out the random noises
every home and neighborhood has.
I do this so I can sleep.
I swear by it.

What do
these random thoughts
have in common?
Well, the last 4-5 early mornings
that find me wandering
my halls,
I've heard the tweets
and twitters of birds.
There are many who have taken
up residence in my Blue Spruce.
What a sure sign that
Spring in on it's way

I'm happy
.
